Sausage Fest is based on a cheap meal titled "sausage combo" from Alison Holst's Mini-Money Meals, and you serve it on rice. My alteration is to use fresh herbs—if available, two bay leaves.
Cook some rice at some point during this cooking procedure, so you can have all things ready at once.
Brown the sausages/sausage meat in a big pan, then remove and fry the apple and onion til tender and lightly browned.
Slice sausages and put back in the pan with baked beans and water.
Add the seasonings, simmer for 10 minutes.
Adjust seasonings and thickness if necessary.
Serve on rice.
