Microwave Popcorn

Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆

Time: <5 minutes

It's best not to eat the packaged microwave popcorn from your supermarket, as it's bag is coated in a plastic which can be very unhealthy for you when it is heated up so hot. This recipe is for salted popcorn, and it is much healthier.

The cooking times I give are for a 1000 W microwave oven.

Guidelines

In a big microwave-safe bowl (not plastic) with a lid, or something that can function as a lid (such as a plate) place the popcorn kernals.

Drop enough oil in to coat the kernals, and make sure they are all coated.

Put the lidded bowl with oily popcorn in the microwave, and cook it for about 2½ minutes, or until the popping eases to only one pop every 2 or 3 seconds — or long before you smell smoke.

When the time is up, remove the popcorn bowl from microwave — careful it may be very hot, so use oven mits.

Sprinkle salt on the popcorn, maybe shake the bowl a little, and serve.
